Welcome to the new apartment

Here I am, in my new apartment. Sort of. I had to move the computer, TV, and VCR over so that the cable guy could set me up. And so he did. He was rather impressed when he got here that I actually already had the signal splitter hooked up to the cablemodem and the VCR, and connected to the cable line. That made things go rather more quickly. While I was waiting for him to show up, I sprinkled a bit of Roach Prufe hither and yon in all the places I thought it needed to go, replaced some burnt-out light bulbs, then did a bit of unpacking of items and stocking of the kitchen—that being the one part of the house that doesn't need furniture to be installed first.. In a bit, I'm going to go out and do the laundry

While I've been here, I've had the time to take a few pictures of the new place. I'm putting them below after a LJ cut so they don't mess up people's friends pages.

Okay, okay, I admit it...they're photos from The Sims. But they're about 80% accurate overall, and maybe 95% accurate in terms of layout. The big differences are that the ceiling lights don't look anything like that red shaded lamp thing; the kitchen one is fluorescent and the others are fixtures built right into the ceiling; there are also other lights above the kitchen sink and the bathroom mirror. The fridge & counter in the kitchen are white, not blue, and there are actually cabinets over the stove and all the counter space but there's no way to show that in The Sims. The curio rack (which is now hosting all my ceramic unicorn figurines) is a lot smaller and differently laid out in real life. The dishwasher has a nice wood cutting board built into the top of it. The windows, curtains, and blinds are similar, but different. The tile and walls in the bathroom are nothing like that green thing, but those were the only tile I could easily find. Ditto for the kitchen/front door linoleum. If you want to get really nitpicky, the shower head in the bath/shower in the bathroom is on the wrong end. The wallpaper in the kitchen is almost right, and the wallpaper and carpet in the rest of the house are almost dead on. That empty space in the middle is where the gas furnace and water heater are.

And yes, that is me standing in the apartment. :)
