Turbotax has...Issues
Feb. 22nd, 2003 04:45 pmI'm trying to install Turbotax, so that I can take advantage of having used it last year to automate things along...but I'm having trouble.
I'm getting this cryptic error message right before the installation finishes. A -113 error, unable to open file as read-only. To my annoyance, the thing doesn't tell me what file it couldn't read, or why. Turbotax's support website isn't terribly helpful; it suggests that I don't have RichEd32.dll installed, and points me at a Microsoft website telling how to install it in Windows 98. Since I have 2000, that isn't really helpful to me. I've checked google groups; other people are having the same problem, and none of them seem to be able to resolve it either.
UPDATE: Upon trolling the newsgroups for more possibilities, I noticed someone mention that TaxCut would import from TurboTax files. So, one quick download and install later...boom, my taxes are done, and I'm getting a total of $635 back, most of it by direct deposit within the next two weeks. That will be handy in paying off some debts and things, and also in reducing that credit card bill of mine that constantly hovers just under the $1500 line. Need to get that taken care of so I don't keep piling on service charges.
