Evening report
Oct. 11th, 2002 11:43 pmSo, I worked a 12 hour shift today. It didn't feel like 12 hours. The fact that I could occasionally interrupt it to do my own thing—such as dropping by brother's home and work to show off my "office," heading by the library to check email, or eating dinner at the mall—helped, as did the fact that most of the time was spent sitting on my butt. However, it wasn't all wine and roses today. Today, I made my first three major dumb goofs. The first two, I don't want to talk about; I'll just say they involved unhappy customers and leave it at that.
The third involved this one restaurant/bar that apparently doesn't trust Quikdine, as they insist we pay them in cash for cash orders. However, I didn't know that was only cash orders—they didn't tell me that in training. So I paid them in cash for the two credit card orders from them I got, and I ended up coming up short in my money bag. My supervisor called the restaurant and straightened things out, but I had to make up the difference in money from my own wallet, then swing by the restaurant on the way home to pick up the money I'd overpaid there. That's a mistake I won't make again.
All in all, I made about $35 today. Not too bad. I went ahead and deposited $31 into my bank account, to bring it back into a positive balance. Grumble grumble stupid Commerce. I had paid out all the money I had, right down to $0...but I didn't know I was going to get a 75 cent service charge. That kicked me into 75-cent overdraft, and gave me a $20 overdraft fee. Bleah. But what can I do about it? They're a bank, they don't have to listen. And no doubt they'll explain it was my fault for not keeping better track of the funds.
I'm off tomorrow morning, so I get to sleep late. Then I work tomorrow evening, 4:15 to close. More money, yay. :)
