compassrose. Actually, I'd had that post ready for about three days, but was kind of waiting to see if anyone else would do anything first. They didn't, so...out it went. Maybe it'll spur more activity, but who knows.
Reading a thread over on RPGnet's forum that started as a discussion on profit margins of RPG books but turned into a discussion about making a living freelancing in the game industry. Interesting stuff, and for me it points up the fact that even if I do get into it, I need to have a real job to be making most of my money first.
It always comes back to that, doesn't it? Needing a real job. I sure hope I get something soon.
My parents say that they're going to consult with a nephew-by-marriage of theirs (cousin-by of mine) who works for a headhunting firm about the efficacy of it. I hope he provides them with an encouraging answer. If I still had enough money, I'd do it myself, but...after I pay the rent this month, I won't even have enough money for that.
I sure do want something to happen soon...
