Job update, & stuff
Jul. 23rd, 2002 12:29 amWell, finally heard back from Quikdine today. Apparently the driver who'd given notice changed his mind and was staying, so there wouldn't be any openings after all. Phooey.
I went in to campus today to re-register for the campus job-seeking service, only to find out that their computer was down. I filled out a little form, and they promised to get in touch with me when they were able to get it back up, and see if I needed to pay them money for the renewal.
After that, I headed over to the campus computer lab and spent several hours updating my resume on Monster.com and then slinging it at every helpdesk/tech support job listing I could find, and a bunch of other ones too. Must have sent it to at least 60 or 70 places, minimum. Hope some of them bear fruit. Heh...it was so easy, I'm a little ashamed I hadn't done it earlier. Suppose I was expecting some potential employer to stumble across the listing and contact me...but I suppose one has to be proactive in this market.
As I was searching Monster jobs, I happened to notice a rather amusing listing. Seems that Wizards of the Coast is looking for, of all things, a lawyer....using a listing on Monster for the posting. Monster is not exactly the first place I would think that a lawyer would choose to look for work...
About time for me to get to bed...tomorrow I need to be up early, to go in to SMSU and take their "clerical test," which is necessary for a librarian position for which I applied--and which I probably won't get anyway, but hey, if you don't have hope, what do you have?
And one more thing...tomorrow evening is when the first LiveJournal Meetup happens. Looking forward to seeing folks there!
