Boiling Mad
Apr. 3rd, 2002 12:16 pmAh, family. Can't live with them, can't go visit them.
Every year, the Saturday before Easter, they have a get-together, wherein the relatives come up from Louisiana and bring a few pounds of crawfish and all the fixin's with them. Mmmm. This year, I actually managed to remember to ask for that day off, the requisite two weeks in advance.
However, this year, after I had so arranged, I asked around and heard that no, they weren't actually having it, because of grandmother's gradually-deteriorating health which finds her living with townie relatives instead of staying in her old country place for the winter.
Today, I just got an email. "Just a reminder, but the crawfish boil is THIS SATURDAY."
I am, as the saying goes, "so mad I could spit."
Well, I called in to work and asked them about it, and they said they'd see what they could do about getting me off that day. I always hate having to do that, though; it makes me feel like I'm imposing. I suppose next year I'll just have to call the people holding it and be sure to ask them directly.
