My Day; Invader Zim oddity

robotech_masterToday started off in "panic mode." I woke up to see my alarm clock blinking "11:00 a.m." at me--I'd forgotten to slide the switch back into "alarm on" mode when I set the alarm. I slid it back...and saw "12:04 a.m." in the time display. Yikes! I was supposed to be clocking into work at that very moment!
(Ironically, I'd woken up a couple of times earlier in the morning, as Gumdrop-kitty decided my legs would be a nice spot to walk on, but I intentionally didn't look at the alarm clock then, out of a bit of superstition that if I knew what time it was, I might not be able to get back to sleep. But if only I had, I could have corrected the problem that didn't wake me up in time.)
I dressed and showered in about five minutes, put out the cat, quickly called in on my cellphone to explain I'd be a little late, and headed down to work, breakfasting on a can of SlimFast and a couple of granola bars en route. After I got there, about 15 minutes later, work was pretty normal, not much to report in that regard.
Tomorrow's the first day I'm potentially available for work at the Adecco temp agency. I called in and left a message declaring the opening of my availability. Now I get to wait and see if anyone wants me. It'll be an interesting experiment--and I hope a lucrative one.
Discovered something slightly odd about Invader Zim last night. Seems that one of the characters (Gir) is voiced by Rosearik Rikki-Simons (who apparently also worked on the animation/writing itself, too). Mr. Rikki-Simons and his wife, Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simons, were active in Robotech fandom some time back, working on the Robotech comic books. I even have a drawing commissioned by Tavisha at one of the A-kon anime conventions, and I'm pretty sure I've taken part in discussions with Rosearik on Robotech mailing lists in far-bygone days--simply because that's a rather unusual name and I do tend to remember those.
Anyway, onward and upward!
