The Kindest Cut of All?
Mar. 23rd, 2002 01:21 amI've noticed that some of my friends use the lj-cut tag when they have long entries--so that only the first couple of paragraphs or lines appear in the journal entry display, and a reader has to click through to view the rest of it. One of my friends told me in no uncertain terms that I should use this tag in my own entries, because my lengthier entries were making his own Friends list hard to load.
I went ahead and made the change, and on the whole, I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I have a bit of a sneaking suspicion that some of my readers may not be clicking through. On the other hand, I do know how slow the non-paid-account servers can be. And I do have to admit, I think I'd rather like it if people were to put more of those personality test things behind lj-cuts, just so I didn't have to be bombarded with them.
Then it suddenly occurred to me--I'm paying for this account, I might as well get some use out of the nifty features that come with that. What do other people think about this tag?
If you're reading this, please vote. I'd like to know where folks stand, and why.
