Hastings la Vista, Baby
Dec. 16th, 2001 12:16 amHad to drive down to my brother's today to pick up a spare keyboard to use (mine just fizzled--probably because of my spraying bug spray into it after a roach crawled between the keys. Oh well, it only cost me about $8 anyway, and on Monday I'll go up to the salvage shop and pick up another one just like it), and on the way I stopped into the Hastings video rental place--figured I'd see if they had Batman: Mask of the Phantasm on DVD. I've been on kind of a Batman Animated kick the last couple of days, ever since finishing up all the eps of Batman Beyond that I could find and then going on to whatever else was available online.
To my surprise, I found signs all over the place declaring that the store was having a store closing sale. 10% off of this, 20% off of that, et cetera.
How very annoying. Hastings had the best selection of DVDs for rental in town--though granted, even that's not saying much. They even had a drop-off box right near where I lived, so I wouldn't have had to go all the way across town to return stuff. I guess the recession this year is hitting home. Now I wonder what I'll do for DVD rentals anymore.
Of course, if I had a "real job," it would be simple. I'd subscribe to Netflix, and watch all the rental DVDs I wanted to. The problem is, though, I don't know if I could watch enough DVDs to be "worth it." I mean, $20 a month--I'd feel like I'd have to be constantly renting and watching as fast as I could to get my money's worth out of the deal. And I just don't really want to watch that many movies--and the ones that I want to watch don't tend to be available on DVD that easily.
Probably better go ahead and get ready for bed. Got another eight-hour workday tomorrow, and I should be getting more such workdays soon. Hopefully it'll just be an interim thing. Need to get my resume to Aaron and see what he can do about getting me work where he is.

When
Date: 2001-12-16 03:33 pm (UTC)We are about to float away down here in Barry county. Luckily it isn't cold enough to make snow. If it were, we'd be having a repeat of last year! Looking forward to getting together with you and your siblings on Thursday!
Love,
Mom
