Cats Wake; Work Looms

robotech_masterWell, I've got my first 8.5 hour shift in a long while today. Working 12:30 to 9:00, with a half hour off for lunch. On a Sunday, in the middle of the holiday season. Rah, rah. Well, at least it'll be busy enough that I won't have time to be bored until 8:00 or so.
I had hoped to get a full evening of sleep last night, but it was foiled by the neighborhood cats, who kept waking me up by scratching on the window screen, expecting me to feed them, just when I was starting to get back to sleep. Finally, I drove them away with a couple of glasses of water, but it was too late--I was up, I couldn't get back to sleep again. Grr. If this keeps up, I'll be loading my Super Soaker bazooka and keeping it handy. Yes, it's cold outside, but on the other hand, those idiot cats should know by now that I only feed them in the afternoon, and panhandling me in the morning is a good way to get a faceful of water.
Before I go to work, I need to take my three crates of dishes & silverware out to my car, and hope I don't break something on the way. Then I need to set up the bug bombs, and move the fan close to the door, unplug the fridge, shut down the computer, prime the bombs, and run like heck. I'm bound and determined to kill off all those nasty bugs today. Which means I'd better get a move on; I don't have much time.
In the "I'm an evil little bugger, aren't I?" department, I finally got around to trying out Morpheus, that peer-to-peer file trading thing that's largely taken Napster's place. Now I'm sorry I didn't try it sooner; it's amazing. It's like Gnutella, except that it actually works. I've been downloading an awful lot of stuff over the last few hours--mostly TV episodes that I missed the first time they aired, and anime fansubs that I already have on tape and would like on a more portable medium. I like it rather a lot, I think.
Well, best stop noodling in this journal and get the room prepped for insect murder, then scoot so I have time to eat a decent breakfast (with much coffee) before work begins. I'm going to be wiped by the time it's over . . . but I hope that the bugs will be wiped out.
