Banal Thanksgiving Morning
Nov. 22nd, 2001 09:58 amSitting here at the computer, watching the Macy's festivities on TV because there's not a whole lot better to do. In a little while, perhaps I should see if there are any open restaurants today. I'm not sure what I'm going to eat for breakfast otherwise.
The parade is...about the same as such parades ever are. A bunch of musical numbers from Broadway shows, NBC reporters and stars chattering on and plugging whatever the latest show is. I don't mind the Broadway numbers, but I sort of wish there were a way to cut the reporters out of the picture and just watch the floats. Too much self-promotion. Too many commercials. Too much banal chatter.
I'm still not sure whether I'll head down to the grandparents' for family Thanksgiving dinner today. I don't think my folks will be there; they'll have headed up to St. Louis for brother's fiancee's Thanksgiving. On the one hand, it's two hours of driving; time away from my computer. On the other hand...well, it is free dinner. And I do like turkey...
