Sigh. The fellow from the maid service came, looked it over, offered some advice, and went. But...it's not what I was hoping for. See, I was hoping for someone who'd come and help me pick up the place. That's what I thought maids did, was straighten up. I've heard about folks who have maids come in once a month to straighten up things, you know? But it turned out that they're just cleaning maids, and I have to get it picked up myself before they can do anything with it. But the picking up is precisely what I need the help in!
The fellow offered some good advice, about working on a little bit at a time, for a certain length of time per day, separating stuff into piles, and maybe finding if there was somewhere I could put more shelving. But it just feels so hopeless. I've got way too much stuff, and too little time, and not enough willpower either. And I just can't get anyone to help me.
