Visitational aftermath

Okay, that was a bright idea. At 5:30, set my white noise application to run two hours, because I usually wake up as soon as it stops. Then wake up four hours later, as proof of just how little actual "rest" I got over the course of my five-day-long surgery-recovery vacation.

For extra bonus points, wake up after a dream involving getting rescued by Little Ponies, disoriented in a pitch-black room with nary a pony in sight. It took me a good minute or so to remember who I actually was. Thank you, hydrocodone.

I don't know why it is, but for some reason it always works out that whenever I go to stay with my parents for a while, I somehow never end up getting more than seven hours of sleep a night. Even when I fully intend to go to bed earlier for some reason, somehow it just doesn't work out that way. On the other hand, I did have several days to spend in the company of my brother, my sister-in-law, and their five kids, and that chance doesn't come along terribly often.

It was especially nice to see the impression that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic had made on them, so soon after introducing them to it. I will treasure for some time the memory of hearing them singing half-remembered lyrics to "At the Gala" (mainly consisting of the words "at the Gala" over and over again) as they were supposed to be getting in bed.

I just had myself a bowl of tomato soup – after that prolonged nap, I wasn't sure whether I was hungry or not, and I'm glad I erred on the side of caution. The other main thing I had worth eating, a left over half chicken pot pie from the Springfield Brewing Company, would have been far too much for me to choke down, and will instead provide me with a nice supper tomorrow night.

Right now, I'm going to shower and go to bed, so to get up early for the doctor's appointment tomorrow morning. Will be interesting to see how that goes.
