My day, and welcome to it
Here I am downtown in the library again.
News update: G.I. Joe was pretty darned good. Silly in places (OK, a lot of places), but at least reasonably coherent (a lot more coherent than Transformers 2 when you get right down to it). Couldn't ask for a better big dumb summer action movie.
Today I went down to the square to hang out at the local coffeeshop, read an e-book, and drop off a voided check at PenMac so they can direct-deposit paychecks to my account if they have any. Spoke to the manager there; she was very friendly and wondered how well the interview had gone. We promised to let each other know if we heard anything from the News-Leader about the interview.
Walked by 1984 thinking I could drop off a couple of T-shirts to get the logo of the con I'm doing ironed onto them, but I'd forgotten that 1984 doesn't open today. Oh well, will try again later in the week. Went by Merle's Hot Dog Emporium and had their recession special, then headed back up to the square and the library here.
Decided to take the back way out of the Emporium. Noticed that the "handicapped entrance" was blocked by a big green SUV parked in what is presumably a no-parking zone. Also noticed a pedicab parked near by, of all things. The sign has a phone number and claims the drivers work for tips. Perhaps I'll call them and check them out. I'll bet they only work the downtown area, though.
In a few minutes I'm going to take the bus back by the grocery store and see about picking up a few items. (And perhaps some electrical tape at the Oscodrug across the street, if they have it. They tell me that splicing speaker wires isn't that hard) I may end up having to take a cab home if I buy enough, so I'll either end up buying not very much or a whole lot. Still got a couple hundred bucks in food stamps and my larder is starting to get bare. Kind of hate having to spend cab money again so soon after shelling out $10 to get to the job interview though.
