Kick in for Storium while you still can!
May. 2nd, 2014 03:27 amJust in case folks here hadn't heard about it, I figured I'd take a moment to bring up Storium, an amazing play-by-post storytelling game that's being Kickstarted right now. Unlike most Kickstarters, you actually get access to the beta of the system as soon as you pledge at least $10, and I've been playing it for the last week or so and I love it. It reminds me a lot of some of the play-by-post games I've been in on LiveJournal back in the day, though those mostly imploded soon after starting, or of the writing that some friends and I did in shared-universe settings on the Internet or various other forums.
I've written a couple of posts on TeleRead going into the system in detail, and I won't copy and paste those here. But I will say that the Kickstarter's at about $129,000 now, and if it reaches $200,000 they'll do a special version of Storium exclusively designed for use in educational environments. Of course, Storium as it is now is great for education, and I have little doubt it will still be used that way even if the $200,000 stretch goal isn't reached. But I'd really love to see it get there.
