Got a new package drop!
May. 6th, 2013 02:19 pmFunny how things just tend to work out sometimes.
For the last little while, my uncle has been kind enough to receive packages for me, and drop them off next time he's in town. My own neighborhood isn't the best, and there haven't been any helpful neighbors around to receive them for me. But my uncle will be moving away sometime soon, and anyway I feel kind of bad about imposing on him so much. So I've been looking for an alternate solution to receiving packages for me.
I checked out one of the local UPS stores as one possible alternative. It was located on the same side of town as my work, though still a few miles away. And even then, they wanted to charge me $5 per package, or else $20 a month for a mailbox in order to receive unlimited packages. But not only was that far away, it also gave me a service I don't need. I don't have any problem receiving letters, just packages.
But then I remembered PostNet, a little copy/mailing shop just south of the Independence Wal-Mart supercenter, and just a few blocks from where I work. I stopped by to check out their services, and it turned out they can do a "virtual address" package drop for me for just $60 a year. That will be more convenient for both me and my uncle. That means I can stop by after work and pick up any packages I get M-F. (They're closed on Saturday, but then, I don't work on Saturday either.)
Closer and cheaper. How often does that happen?
