In which I find out what my hours are going to be

I learned what shift I'm going to start with, at least for the next few weeks until more shifts come up for bid. It was my 4th choice on the bid sheet, and the one I rather suspected I was going to end up with (it had 4 openings, while the others only had 1 or 2 each).

When I submitted the bid, I made the conscious choice that I would go for weekends off as my first priority (since it would be easier to schedule around BioKinetic medical studies that way), so I chose every shift that was Monday through Friday as my first few picks—even if the hours weren't my first choice. And that's how I ended up with the 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday shift.

I would have preferred something more on the order of 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (as the guy sitting next to me got) or even 12:30 to 9 p.m. But all in all, 2:30 to 11 isn't bad considering the sleep schedule I tend to prefer anyway. And I worked that shift at MCI, too, so it's not as if I've never done it before. I met the supervisor today and he seemed like a decent enough fellow.

Tomorrow I take my first real live phone calls. I'm looking forward to it.
