This morning at about 10, I got a call from my brother: "Wanna come adopt a cat with me?" Not the sort of call you get every day, so I figured why not. He explained on the way that he and his wife had seen a gorgeous Maine Coon Cat dropped off at a pound, and had filed paperwork with the local C.A.R.E. shelter to have it rescued so they could adopt it. One of their current cats just turned 14, so they figured they should go ahead and get another one to be ready when that one kicked the bucket.

When we got to the C.A.R.E. shelter, there was some confusion over the actual gender of the cat. The collar tag and documents from the pound said female, but the paperwork from the shelter said male (and that "he" had been "neutered") and named "him" Cassidy.

The attendant at the shelter just sort of shrugged and said that it was hard to tell what gender they were after they'd been fixed. So for now, its indeterminate gender makes it a sort of "Schroedinger's cat", I guess. Aaron thinks she's female, though.

Dropping the cat at the uncle's place )

I've posted photos in my Facebook photo album. They start on page 3. Should be viewable even by non-FB users.

After that, we ate lunch at The Purple Burrito, then Aaron dropped me off back at my apartment.
