I've been sleeping a lot deeper than usual for the last couple of days, probably a combination of my comfy new mattress, my soft new 300-thread-count sheets, my thick comforter, and the melatonin. I've been having some vivid dreams, and I managed to remember a decent chunk of them when I woke up.

An early part of the dream involved working at K-Mart, then coming out to find my Suburban (I do not, in RL, own a car) double-parked in front and covered in angry notes from co-workers who were having trouble getting shopping cards in because it was in the way. While shuffling stuff around inside to make room for groceries(?), I dropped a deck of playing cards and had to go back and pick it up, chasing a couple of cards that were blowing across the parking lot and kept multiplying as I ran and grabbed them.

Then I dreamed that I had dumped some used cat litter down what I thought was a disposal chute in one of my rooms, but it had stuck there. While trying to find where it came out, I discovered a large workshop room connected to my apartment that I hadn't known about before. It was full of tools, and someone had left a dual-wheeled power grinder there and running. There was also a neighborhood kitten, covered in fleas, which had gotten in from outside somehow. I put it back out again, but not before I had a lot of fleas too.

A neighbor came by and wanted to borrow a toolbelt hanging on the wall. I told him no, reminding him of what had happened last time I had lent him an extension cord and never got it back. (I've never lent him any such thing in real life.)

On the workbench I found a diatribe, typed and ornamentally hand-inked, that I somehow "knew" was by [livejournal.com profile] demiurgent, about the tyranny of the computerized font as compared to the good old fashioned typewriter. It did seem like the sort of thing he would write, except it ended in a most uncharacteristic "Nyah nyah biiidah!"

After that, I became aware to some extent that I was dreaming, and knew (alas) that my apartment did not have space for a large hidden room. However, I noticed a couple of doorknobs on my outside wall, next to my door, that I had never seen before. They were not attached to door, but to things I pulled out of the wall. One of them, in particular, was attached to a length of rope binding together a bunch of square, wooden or plastic tiles with holes in the center that kind of reminded me of the "five" face on a six-sided die. I wasn't sure what it was for, maybe cleaning something.
