Break thoughts
Dec. 31st, 2003 01:35 pmLast night, I cleaned the guest room, got rid of a bunch of old boxes, and tidied up the living room and the kitchen. Tonight, I tackle the bathroom. I'm getting ready for
tbutler's visit incrementally. I think it's going to be all right.
I'm rather proud of my apartment. It's cluttered, but not so cluttered as the old one was. And nowhere near as cluttered as Travis's, which reminds me of Yomiko Readman's home from the Read or Die OAV. He seems to like it that way, but I just shake my head and think about how much more space there might actually be in his place if he invested in a few shelves and took the time to fill them. For me, I think it's a combination of having enough shelves (which reminds me: I really need to get more, I'm running out of space for DVDs and I have a bunch of books that I don't have shelving for. Perhaps I can use the guest bedroom as a library as well), having the guest bedroom and its closet to stuff unneeded things into (like my bike, the big electric fan I seldom need, and some boxes I never got around to unpacking after the move), and shaking a bit of the packrat mentality enough to force myself to throw some things out.
I'm looking forward to Travis's visit. He's been down here twice, I've been up there once, and between those two trips I think we managed to get a lot of the "stuff to do for the sake of doing stuff" out of the way. Maybe we can be a little bit less frenetic and just visit more this time (trip down to my folks for dinner Saturday evening notwithstanding).
Well, break's over, time to get back to work and reading.
