Post-Visit Report
Dec. 26th, 2003 09:17 pmWell, my brother Alex, his wife Rachael, and their Chinese friend Soong aka "Panda" came up for a visit. They stayed a couple hours, then went to visit someone else, then came back and stayed a couple hours longer. In the mean time, I made chili, jalapeno cheese bread, and rice. Granted, they were made mostly with mixes and canned ingredients, but it still counts. The first part of the visit, I showed them bits of a few movies to show off my sound system, then when they came back I showed a few more things. The high point of the visit was when I showed them Miyazaki's Panda, Go Panda!—it seemed only natural, considering Soong's nickname. It was a big hit—everybody enjoyed it, and by the time it was over, I had dinner ready.
After dinner, I played Alex a game of Starcraft, he on my desktop computer and me on my laptop. He beat me badly. Oh well. And then they had to go, in order to make another stop and then get back down to my parents' where they're sleeping.
It's kind of sad in a way...I could fill day after day with stuff to do...movies to watch, games to play, and so on. But just from the way life is, the way careers and families and geographic locations and things pull us all in separate directions, I know that I'll never get the chance to do that. When they left, it seemed as though they'd only just arrived.
Oh well. At least I have some friends online who are almost always here...and if I can't watch movies or things with them, we can at least talk and be sociable and do things like that. I think I'll go and do that now.
