So here I am down at the parents' homeplace again, and turkey has been consumed and now most of the people in the house are dozing off the tryptophan in a typical turkey coma: my Dad, my brother, my brother's wife, and the two daughters, Aeris and Guenivere. My Mom, my Dad's Mom, and I are all awake, and Dad is vaguely awake, lying on the floor with his feet propped up on a chair. I'm sitting at the kitchen table typing on my Powerbook listening to iTunes through headphones, as my brother chased me away from the parents' computer because I type loud and he was trying to sleep in the next room.

In the next room, my parents' laundry machines work on the three full loads of laundry I brought home. I would have been doing it at a laundromat, but since I was coming home anyway, I figured I might as well save a few bucks. And while the others are dozing, I can at least surf the net–even if I have to do it on a 37.76 KBPS modem connection. In a while, we'll have birthday cake, I'll put the next load in the dryer, and eventually I'll head home.

Heard some great news: Farscape is coming back! They're going to make at least another few episodes of the show. You just can't keep a good space soap opera down, I guess. Other good news: as I mentioned in my phone post previously, The Gods Must Be Crazy is finally coming to DVD. This is a truly great film, and well worth owning...one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Don't miss it.

The following is an excerpt from I'm a Spam® Fan: America's Best-Loved Foods by Carolyn Wyman, Longmeadow Press, 1993, pg. 131-2:

Talkin' Turkey at Butterball )

I always like to read that, about this time of year.
