Sometimes it's worth getting up in the morning for what you get to read five minutes later.

Last night, my parents sent me one of those email forwards that's been making the rounds. (The one about "verse 9:11" of the Quran prophecying that a "son of Arabia" would awaken "a fearsome Eagle" and so forth.) They were wondering if it was true. Since it sounded clearly too suspicious to be real, I checked it out on Snopes and found it was, indeed, too suspicious to be real. I sent the link back to the folks and suggested they pass it on to whoever sent them that quote.

This morning, I found waiting in my mailbox a copy of the mail that person subsequently sent out, courtesy of my parents:

THIS IS A HOAX!! SORRY!! MARK'S SON CHECKED IT OUT AND IT IS BOGUS ---I
HAD A WARNING FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHICH I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED
TO. SINCERELY APOLOGIZING! LOVE YOU ALL

Sometimes it is worth getting up in the morning.
