My week, and welcome to it

I'll bet you're all wondering where I've been.

The last week has been a pretty full one, and undoubtedly some events that I would have liked to have written about early on were eclipsed by the big thing that happened to me on Tuesday. I would have written an entry by now if I'd had the chance.

Essentially: I got sick. Extremely sick, with a bad case of food poisoning. It was brought on at least partly by my own fault, for eating a bit of questionable formerly-frozen food on Monday night, and partly perhaps due to my fridge malfunctioning. At any rate, by Tuesday morning I was quite sick. I'll spare you the details, but it progressed on into the afternoon to the point where I had to call my brother Aaron to drive me in to the hospital emergency room. Thankfully, I now have PPO health insurance thanks to my job.

Home, home again...

Well, did the two hours and got home all right. Other news since the last entry: I spoke to my landlord's appliance repair man, and he set up a time to come over tomorrow evening and take a look. He says that the problem is likely the fridge needs defrosting again, and I have to agree that's likely—I remember how when I moved in, the freezer floor was bowed out to where there was only half the usable space in the freezer. Come to think of it, the floor does look a little bulged again. Anyway, he's asked me to unplug it tomorrow morning, so it can have time to melt out by the time he gets here tomorrow evening. Ah well. I was resigned to losing all the frozen stuff anyway, and most of what's in the fridge portion now (juice, beer, and stuff) won't suffer from being warm for a while.

I really ought to get in bed, and probably will within a few minutes. But for a while, I just wanted to enjoy this quiet evening time, sitting here in comfort merrily keyboarding away. This is precisely what I bought this laptop for in the first place.
