I set my clocks ahead and went to bed. Got up right on time at about 10 a.m., then headed down to church, grabbing a breakfast sandwich on a 99-cent coupon at Sonic on the way. It was a good service. On the way back, I stopped by that apartment I'm thinking of renting, and did some scouting around the neighborhood. There are a lot of places for rent in that general area; I copied down some phone numbers that I may call, but probably won't; one of the places nearby advertises single-bedroom apartments for $300 a month. I think that a 2-bedroomer for that price would suit me just fine. I also found a rather nice laundromat not too far away; it's pricier than the one I currently use, but closer to that apartment than this one is to my current one and also much nicer and more attractive. I think I'll enjoy using it.

Came home, watched the second-to-last episode of Farscape (it is a crime against humanity that they're cancelling that show prematurely), then had to run out to the store again to pick up a couple of utensils I was lacking. Now I've started one of my guilty pleasures on the MP3 player—Billy Idol's Cyberpunk—and I'm about to go into action and spend the remainder of the afternoon making a beef pot pie which will provide me with no-hassle, no-money-outflow lunches for the week ahead.

Finished making beef pot pie. Whew. It takes a lot of effort, but I'm starting to get pretty darned good at it, if I do say so myself. This time, I tried making the pie dough early and putting it in the fridge 'til I was ready for it, and it made the rolling out process much easier. Two 9" pies makes eight good-sized meals for me—which means that my lunches for all this week are pretty much taken care of.

And now it's about time for me to get in bed. In twelve hours, I'll be sitting down at my cubicle in the customer service bay and preparing to meet the customers. In twenty-four hours, I'll probably have just arrived home, worn and tired, and be stumbling over to fall into bed again. Oh boy.

I have to admit that, though I am looking forward to this job a great deal, I am really not looking forward to this coming week. Or at least, my feelings are mixed about it. We had four weeks of training, but I don't think it was quite adequate to prepare me for the job. That's only to be expected, of course; no amount of training for something can prepare you for the actual event. I'm going to have some learning to do. Probably a lot of it. So the next few days are probably going to be an exercise in frustration as I know that I need to find something, but can't quite figure out where it is. Time after time. Call after call.

But on the bright side, if I stick with it long enough, I expect I'll meet and surpass the quality of some of the reps I've monitored on the floor in the last couple of weeks. Practice makes perfect, after all. I hope.
