Thirty years ago today, the last man left the moon. Since then, NASA hasn't been able to find a sense of purpose with a road map, GPS, and a team of rocket scientists.

R.I.P. space program. We had such high hopes for you.

So, yesterday, Friday the 13th, I received an item I'd ordered via eBay. A rather obscure album, which is why I was able to get it at the low-bid price—nobody else wanted it, so it turned out to cost me $3 plus $2 shipping. The album in question is "Kadath Decoded," by a German prog-rock group called Payne's Gray; as the title suggests, it's a musical interpretation of H.P. Lovecraft's classic fantasy-adventure story, The Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath. Decent little album, though it seems to suffer from something common to German prog-rock bands...the lead singer can't carry a tune in a bucket. Oh well. I was still rather amused by the appropriateness of a Lovecraftian album arriving on Friday the 13th.
