I happened across
a series of Everything2 writeups by a fellow who spent a couple of months in Antarctica as part of a science team. Very cool stuff, and a very dry wit. (Of course, it would have to be cool and dry--it's very cold and there's no humidity in the air in Antarctica. :)
Seriously, the info in these writeups is very fascinating, and some of the stuff I simply wouldn't have guessed. Just thought I'd pass 'em on.
