Back to the old grind today. Sigh. All that time off spoiled me for wanting to do school work. Now I've got to concentrate on the assignments I need to do. Starting with my java class coming up in 40 minutes, then the meeting of the project group after it. I'm not sure how I'm going to face the project group. I have this feeling like I've not quite been doing my share of the work, and I have a feeling they'd agree with me. I'll just have to do the best I can and show some stuff I've found that will hopefully convince them I've been doing my job.

Man, I'm drowsy. I probably shouldn't have had the soup-in-sourdough-bowl thing at the St. Louis Bread Company--that's a lot of food to digest. It was good, but how'm I going to pay attention in class now? :P

After class is over, I plan to try to spend one hour cleaning, and perhaps get the DVD/tape case surface cleared out and squared away. I should also do something about those boxes of cassettes and things on the top of those white shelves. I got a big box from the K-Mart stockroom yesterday; I'm hoping they'll all fit in that to take home.

Those shelves are nice little things; I'm thinking maybe I should get a couple more and put them in my closet, do something better with the stuff in that tub than just leaving it in the tub. I'm a little scared what I might find when I clean it out, I'm half-afraid there'll be another roach colony in there, too. The tub seemed like such a good idea at the time, to get all the stuff off of the somewhat leaky floor. Now I'm not so sure.

At an hour a day, how many days would it take to get the apartment squared away? Hmmmm.

If nature abhors a vacuum, how does nature feel about a vacuum cleaner?

Another pair of before and after pictures. I feel like I'm really making progress here!

How's that for improvement?

Looking over my room, I see only three major areas left to clean before I can set the bug-bombs off.

Firstly, my closet. There's a big plastic Rubbermaid tub lying in the bottom of the closet, with a bunch of stuff in it. Including bags of 2-year-old Easter candy that I bought on sale because it was such a good deal. Some of that will have to go. Others of that...well, I need to find a place to put this stuff, or else get rid of it. I also need to move the laundry out of the way.

Second, the kitchen. I need to wipe down the roachified counters, do something about spraying back in the open area around the water heater...mostly just rinse dead bugs and bug poop off of the counter space, maybe follow up with a little 409.

Third...the bathroom. God help me, the bathroom. I'm not going to describe it, because that would really wander into the realm of Too Much Information. Let's just say that it's probably a good thing that my sense of smell doesn't seem to work.

After I've got everything cleaned up...then I pack my flatware and silverware into a rubbermaid tub and move it out to my car...and then the bug bombs go off. I've got two boxes of three spray-bombs, as well as one mist-bomb left over from last cycle. I figure I'll set four off one day, then three the next. I want to be sure those roaches are killed very dead.

Last time I set bombs of this spray type off, I came home to find the carpet covered with dying roaches who'd crawled out of wherever they'd been hiding to expire. I wasn't able to do much about them then, not having a vacuum cleaner. But this time, I'll be ready for the little buggers.

I can hardly wait.
