Job search nightmare (literally)

robotech_masterOh wow what a nightmare I just had.
I dreamed I was hired at my worst nightmare job: a boring, tedious, menial job that was nonetheless just barely beyond my abilities. I had to study lists of words, famous events, and political speeches that were posted on a HUGE message board in the bathroom, for some kind of achievement test that the job depended on.
At home, my room had become even more of a mess than it is now, including my cats somehow dumping the litterbox all over the shag carpet in the living room. I lived in a trailer, and someone kept stealing (or destroying) the steps down to the ground. Oh, and I had split personalities or possessing spirits that kept trying to take over my hands as I was typing a livejournal entry about how awful my day was.
The dream ended with said spirits taking over my dreams and showing me sped-up images of birds fluttering around trees, trying to "soothe" me. When the alarm I'd forgotten I'd set went off and yanked me out of it, it was a big relief.
I wonder if this was triggered by my decision to go down to Penmac and Adecco as soon as possible and start seeking temp work, and my remembering how utterly awful and soul-crushingly banal the temp work I got last time was. Calling people on the phone to give them surveys they didn't want to take, that sort of thing.
Granted, my last temping gig got me the job with Mihlfeld that lasted a couple of years…but when you get right down to it, most of the time that job was banal data-entry work. There was a brief period where I was writing a guide (to the banal data-entry work) that seemed like the world was at my feet, then after that it was all downhill where I ended up doing even more banal testing, followed by a period of sitting around not doing anything much until they laid me off.
I wonder if there's even any point to seeking temp work. Last time I did it, I was able to ride a bicycle so I could get home after the buses stopped running. Can't do that now. So unless I can get my parents to give me that car early (ha!) I don't think there's much point to it. Well, I guess I can specify "8 to 5 only".
