How my day went

This morning I pulled down the latest episode of Macross Frontier while writing my article for TeleRead, and watched it afterward. I enjoyed it. For all that a lot of Robotech and Macross fans make disapproving noises about how it's little more than an attempt to cash in on Macross fandom by cloning the original show, it has some interesting new elements that I enjoy—and the music by Yoko Kanno is totally awesome.
After that, I figured I would go down and visit my Uncle Denis. He hadn't ever seen my new scooter, and thanks to my digital camera I had a lot of cat pictures on my iPod Touch that I could show to Aunt Becky if she was home.
Becky wasn't in, but my cousin Polly was there, with her scaredy-dog Gracie, and though she was just leaving, we were still able to visit for about 15 minutes, during which I showed off my photos. Then Uncle Denis and I went inside and we talked for a while, and I took some photos of two of his three cats.
After that, I headed down to Best Buy to see if I could obtain a 2-gig SD card for the camera any cheaper than on-line. It turned out to be no dice; I could get a 2-gig card on-line for half the price of any they were offering in the store, even with shipping. But it wasn't a total loss; on the way to Best Buy, I stopped at a grocery store and picked up a barbeque sandwich, then afterward stopped by Deal$ for a drink and some chips. Then I headed back east to a park I'd noticed on the way down—Sequiota Park, in the suburb of Galloway.
I found a place at a picnic table that only had one occupant, and ate. The occupant was an older lady who complimented me by guessing I was about the age of her 20-year-old son, then she started talking about the travails of her relationship with her 31-year-old daughter and the daughter's kids, and simply would not shut up. But it really wasn't any great hardship to listen to her; I wasn't expected to do more than say "uh-huh" every now and then between bites, and I imagine it did her some good to get the grumbling off her chest.
After that I walked around the park for a while and took some pictures, then I headed back to my scooter and returned home. I uploaded all the pictures I'd taken to Flickr, and had a couple of glasses of wine—at which point I was drowsy enough to take a two and a half hour nap. I don't often take those, but I guess I needed it this time.
Woke up about 8:30, and was reminded why I don't usually take evening naps—they're really annoying to wake up from. My body is confused, not understanding why it's still dark when I'm having wakey-feelings. Disoriented, lethargic, and slightly nauseous, it took me a few minutes to stagger in to the computer and wake up enough to feel better. And here I've been ever since.
Went ahead and ordered a 2-gig micro-SD card (bundled with adapters for the larger form factor my camera uses) for $11 shipped, and a new battery pack for the camera (this one seems a bit worn down) for $20. By my estimates of how much the 64-megabyte card will hold, a 2-gig one will hold about 1500 photos. This seems a bit excessive, but on the other hand it would cost about the same for a smaller one, so might as well make good and sure I don't ever have to change cards mid-shoot, eh?
Well, time to shower and bed and stuff.
