I'm writing this via LogJam, open from my apartment's Linux box. It's slow, but barely not to slow to use.

I had been using Xming for my Windows X server some time back, but when I tried to return to it now I found I could not get it to work. So I did some Google searching on X servers for NT and decided to give Cygwin a shot. I should have done it a long time ago. It seems to work a lot more intuitively from a Linux standpoint (largely because it seems to be more or less a direct port of various Linux applications to work on Windows) and I was able to get X working right away.

It's more or less a curiosity for me, I suppose; there aren't all that many things I need to pop up an X app for. It's kind of neat to see a Linux Firefox on my Windows desktop, but kind of unnecessary given that it works so well on Windows now.

So, in an effort to eke some worthwhile use out of it, I'm running an x session from work and popping up a LogJam (Linux GTK LJ client) session through it. Though by and large, it would have been less work and faster just to use the "update from web" feature from my browser here. :P

In other news, I finally went ahead and figured out how to update my Ubuntu Linux box from Gutsy to Hardy. I suppose there wasn't really much point, given that 95% of my Linux use is just done through terminal sessions anyway, but it makes me feel all technological and stuff.
