Something I've noticed about the $2 over the few days I've been passing them: they interest people. In at least two cases cashiers at restaurants either said they would or outright did buy the bills out of the till. This evening, when I turned in five of them at a convenience store for a roll of quarters, then came back later when a different cashier was coming on duty, he took those twos out and was examining them as I left. (I didn't stop to ask him about them, or reveal I'd put them there.)

People just seem to be fascinated by them. And the idea that they could go down to the bank and buy a bundle of them for their very own apparently never occurred to them.

This does at least give me hope that perhaps the $2 bills I've been faithfully entering into Where's George might end up having some life after all, rather than being unceremoniously returned to the bank and never seen again.

I have to confess to being disappointed at not yet encountering one of those people you read about who doesn't believe two dollar bills exist. Even the Chinese lady at the restaurant where I ate tonight accepted them without question.

Speaking of Where's George, I've gone ahead and succumbed to the urge, and ordered a couple of self-inking stamps. With those it'll be easy to enter every bill I receive into it, and maybe I'll actually start seeing some of them travel.
