Well, I did the format and reinstall. It was, on the whole, pretty painless. I got the stuff I needed reinstalled reinstalled, a bunch of other stuff copied back over, and generally set back up the way I need to be. It's nice. The computer seems reasonably peppy again–most of the time. There are a few odd little freezes when Firefox takes up all of the computer's capacity for some reason. I've probably got some extensions installed that I don't need or something.

Today I did my interview with Sharon Lee and Steve Miller on my podcast The Biblio File. It went really well, ending up just short of an hour so I didn't need to break it up or anything. I managed to get it levelated and re-uploaded just in time.

Right now I'm over at my friend Sandy's, listening to my ipod and watching his daughter Emma throw a tennis ball and chase it around, while my laundry percolates in their machines. We brought some KFC home for a late lunch or early dinner, then Sandy got busy transcribing some interviews while I set my Wallstreet II up for Internet access through his router. It's possible we might go down to Sandy's in-laws' place down the street for some swimming after a while, too.

It's so nice finally having a fellow geeky friend in town to pal around with after all these years. (And the fact that he has a washer and dryer doesn't hurt either. :)
