Bleah. I am exhausted. I think I'm going to be going to bed very shortly.
Shortly after the last entry, I met my brother and friend at the Drunken Fish, a nice sushi restaurant in Westport, in the same complex as the job interview and the hotel with Internet access. I had the lunch special—soup and two sushi rolls. I chose the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. Mmmm.
After that, the brother dropped me off at the St. Charles Wehrenberg movie theater, and I took a look at what was playing and…didn't recognize any of them. I had wanted to see Pan's Labyrinth but it wasn't playing there. Finally I decided on Smoking Aces, as it at least looked somewhat interesting and it would be out at 4:30, right about when my brother would be free from work. I passed the time waiting for it to start reading Mona Lisa Overdrive, which I hadn't read in a while.
The movie seemed exciting enough. Only later did I check Rotten Tomatoes and find it scored a 27%. Oh well. I enjoyed it while I was watching it and that's the important thing.
After that, Aaron picked me up, I called Travis, and we arranged to meet at Fitz's. But the only thing was…according to the ticket printout, I had to pick up my ticket at least an hour in advance of bus time. And the bus station was all the way on the other side of town. So off we drove to the bus station, which took about half an hour. And then I had a 15 minute wait to get the ticket (only one receptionist working a line). And then it was 20 minutes back to Fitz's. By the time we got there, we only had about a half hour to eat (and chat with
tbutler, who had been there at about the same time we left for the bus station) before Aaron had to drive me back to the bus station again. We really should have gone with my first impulse and just found somewhere good to eat downtown.
Bus boarding was accomplished without much hassle (though oddly enough, although I and a few other passengers standing in line were 15 minutes early, the bus driver was all annoyed at us because he had called for passengers to board 20 minutes before. Uh, yeah.
The bus trip down to Springfield was largely uneventful; I finished reading Mona Lisa Overdrive and then listened to the iPod for a while. Called a cab as we turned off the interstate onto Kearney, and it arrived barely a minute after I had made my way to the front of the bus station—very convenient.
Then it was back to the apartment and here I am.
And now, I'm totally exhausted. I had thought I'd go ahead and watch tonight's Heroes before going to bed, but now I think it's going to be all I can do to shower and collapse. And tomorrow I've got a number of things to do, including an interview podcast tomorrow night for which to prepare.
