Well, here I am again. Been a long time since I had much to say here. I guess you know how it is, you get out of the habit of writing and then it gets so much harder to pick up the pen again, you just let it build up and never say anything.

I'm not even sure where to begin with all the stuff that's been going on in my life lately.

Job's about the same, though the boss insists that soon we're going to be deluged with traffic, as he's about ready to put up a new revision of the site. That's fine with me. I feel kind of guilty about sitting around all day surfing the net for lack of anything better to do.

Oh, and my free TV set arrived...sort of. The good news is, it finally got here. It's a beauty all right, all bright and silver in sort of the same way as the Sony Clie I have in my pocket. (When the TV I got here, I took it out, held it up next to the TV, and said, "Sony Clie, meet your big brother.") The bad news is, when I turned it on, there were large blotches of the screen that were off-color. The good news is, the set is still under warranty. It took a week or so for a repairman to get out to look at it...but the bad news is, when it was shipped to me, the shippers dropped it on its face and messed up the screen. The good news is, they could fix the screen, the bad news is, they couldn't cover the cosmetic damage (there was a big dent in the plastic molding that I never noticed before) and it would take 3 weeks for the part to get in. That was about a week ago, so I have a little less than two weeks to go before I get my free TV set "for real".

I spent Saturday afternoon at an open-house for my grandmother, commemorating her 90th birthday. She lives at the Methodist Manor, an assisted-living apartment complex in Republic. It's a very nice place, with a lot of friendly people. There were a series of speeches given by my father, aunts, and uncles, over the course of which I learned some interesting things. You just don't expect to hear that your grandmother's reading the Tarzan books aloud to her young children affected them so profoundly that the little girl who would grow up to be your aunt had her mother make her a burlap loincloth in which she would run around outdoors...not to mention eventually name her daughter Jane. And for that matter, one of my uncles has the middle name of Clayton, which was Lord Greystoke's surname.

This was followed by dinner at a nice brewpub in Aurora--and 2 or 3 family members donated their leftovers to me, so I have dinner material for the next two or three nights, so long as I don't get sick of fish. In retrospect, I probably should have ordered something other than what they-all did.

Not sure what else to say here; I could probably yak a lot about what's going on in City of Heroes, but I'll save it for another time.
