A Disturbing Morning After
Dec. 21st, 2004 08:58 amWell, apparently the police don't believe in tidying up a crime scene afterward. When I left for work this morning, I had to step around a blood-soaked terry towel, a couple of cast-off bandage wrappings, and a lot of dried/frozen blood spattering the neighbor's side of the steps. I couldn't help but have an odd moment of reality disconnect as I remembered the advertisements for the crime scene cleanup service from Max Payne II...
So much blood spattered around. I can't believe I didn't hear anything while it was happening, I was right there in my room...well, I guess it's just as well for me that I didn't. I guess it would be okay to take my garden hose and tidy it up now; they took all the photos and things they needed last night. Maybe I'll do that when I get home, if nobody has done it by then already.
Bus driver on the way into work this morning said he'd heard on the news about some guy being stabbed in the head by another guy last night, in an argument; if that's the stabbing that took place here then it would have been that neighbor's roommate. I don't know why he would have been stabbed on my (and my next door neighbors') doorstep instead of their own doorstep, but it would make me slightly relieved if true; it would mean that it wasn't the woman or her daughter who live next door to me who were injured. I don't see anything about it in this morning's Springfield News-Leader, but I'll keep checking.
