One of THOSE Days
Mar. 16th, 2004 01:34 pmYou ever have One of Those Days?
I'm having a couple.
Yesterday, the fellow I was carpooling with...didn't show up. He normally shows up at 10:45 or so. He didn't show up by 11, which is when I called a cab. It ran me down to the call center to the tune of $9...and I learned that said fellow had come by my place...he'd just been half an hour late, and I suppose I just missed him. I had thought I'd given him my number, but apparently I hadn't. I gave it to him this time, and extracted a promise from him to call me next time he was going to be late.
So today, he didn't show up again. No problem, right? He'd call if he wasn't going to be able to make it.
11:20...10 minutes before I have to be at work. He calls. He's sick, he just woke up, he can't make it.
I'm not about to spend yet another $9 on a cab for the second day in a row. So, one bus ride later, I show up an hour and fifteen minutes late to work...to discover I've forgotten my ID badge. And to find that my lunchbox, which I had not been able to find last night and had assumed I left at my desk...was not at my desk. Or in the lost and found. So, I'm going to need to find another means to keep my lunches from being stolen...and I lack a car with which to shop for it. Or to do my laundry for that matter. I hope the car my folks are helping me get comes through soon...
