Brief notes from the homestead
Oct. 12th, 2003 05:37 pmI'm down at the parents' place right now, with my brother Aaron, his wife Jennifer, and their two daughters, Aeris, 2.33, and Guinevere, 10 months. Aaron's busy installing Windows XP on the parents' new computer—for some reason they can't seem to keep a working computer more than a few months—and we're going to be eating dinner shortly.
Part of the reason I came down was to pick up some older Macintosh peripherals that a friend of the folks didn't need anymore since he'd switched to a Dell. He used his old Quadra 610 until the hard drive gave out...and the rest of the computer wasn't worth much of anything. The Mac keyboard definitely works well with my Powerbook...however, the monitor is limited to 640x480 resolution, so it's not going to end up being terribly useful to me. There's also a HP DeskWriter printer that I gather I should be able to get to work with OS X with a bit of fiddling, and a scanner that I have no idea about. Have to wait 'til I get it all back up to Springfield and have time to fiddle with it.
Being called to dinner right now, so I'd best post this and go. Later!
