$$$ KA-CHING! $$$
Aug. 7th, 2003 02:15 pmWell, the other day I learned that I'd gotten $25 on my MCI bonus money cash card, for scoring high on some list or other. And then I got $50 for having a low return-calls-handled rate in the second half of last month.
Today, shortly after I'd gotten to work, my supervisor dropped a sheet of paper on the workspace in front of me and asked me where I was taking him to dinner. It turned out that I won $350 in a quality drawing, and it should be on my card tonight or tomorrow! Well, technically 58% of $350, and my next paycheck is gonna be even thinner than usual given that it's going to have both no cycle bonus money on it (it being one of the two yearly "equalizer" checks to square 24 cycles with 26 bi-weeks in a year) and going to have 42% of that $425 taken out of it.
Still, that's almost $200 more than I had yesterday.
I think I'm going to put some of this windfall toward paying off my credit card debt faster (as after I'm hooked on the student loan consolidation payments, it'll be harder to put more money toward that), maybe put a little in savings, and keep the rest handy to help deal with bills and things that might otherwise have blindsided me with the recent computer expenditures. I need to get a little more organized on my budget again. I think the loan payments may well be a tight squeeze.
