Messages from a random hotspot...
Aug. 3rd, 2003 07:09 pmAt the moment, I'm standing by the trunk of my car in a parking lot just east of Park Central Square, and typing on my laptop which is on the trunk in front of me. This is my first time using a non-explicit hotspot to surf.
Apparently it belongs to an architecture and design firm on the fifth floor of the Alumni Center across the street from me. Well, they changed its network name but they didn't WEP encrypt it...and in my opinion, that makes it fair game. At any rate, it's not like I'm going to download huge filez or browse their network looking for state secrets.
Just spent a couple hours in Geekerz, a LAN-party/gaming place set up on the east road out of the square, right across from the Gillioz Theater. Met a fellow there who got Samba set up for me. Or at least, I think he did. Won't find out for certain until I'm back in my room, and this felt like just too nice a day to spend totally indoors.
