Another day, another...something-or-other
Well, the end of another week. A week with four extra hours in it, what with overtime. The last couple of days have been a little hard on me, adding an hour each to an already ten-hour day. But in the end, it's been worth it. I could have taken more if I really wanted it, but I figured four hours would be the appropriate intersection point between "long enough to put me firmly in the black for number of calls handled during this cycle" and "short enough that I don't go crazy." Though I think if I had it to do over, considering, I might have taken all four hours on Wednesday and slept later on Thursday and Friday. Oh well.
Today was pretty good for me, I guess. Once again I did a great job of keeping my average call handling time low, and I even got my second-ever customer request to speak to supervisor to say how good a job I did. I don't know if that'll result in a $20 card payout the way the last one did, but either way, it's a good feeling. I like getting people the proper help, and what makes it all worthwhile is that moment when a customer says, "Oh, I see! It's all clear to me now." Well, actually what makes it all worthwhile is the paycheck, but the customer satisfaction does at least help. It's almost enough to make up for those customers who are total idiots and I spend twenty minutes trying to drum things into their thick heads. Even if most of the calls at this point are for the same issues, at least that means I have a lot of practice getting the crucial facts across.
After work, to reward myself for a hard week, I stopped by Wal-Mart to root around in their bargain DVDs and see if there was something cheap but desirable with which I could reward myself. To my delight, there was indeed: the Kenneth Branaugh Much Ado About Nothing that I've been wanting on DVD for a long time, for a hair under $10. I considered picking up a couple of other movies, but what with the computer expenditures this month, I was firmly in "stingy" mode, and lately the number of movies I've really wanted to own has been quite low. I need to feel like I would want to watch a movie at least two or three times, or else care a lot about the special features on it, before I decide to buy instead of rent it. The Lost Boys and The Corrupter were tempting, but they'll have to wait for sometime when I feel like I can be more free with my cash...whenever that might be.
