Hi, it's been a while. I'm aware I haven't updated this journal in several days; actually, I had written a lengthy update several days ago but it got erased when the client I was using crashed, and I was a bit too depressed by the loss to type it all again.

At any rate, not all that much has happened to me that's worth mentioning. I continue to improve, slowly but steadily, at the MCI job. I've had some interesting calls—for instance, one from a lady whose son was a convalescing military veteran in Germany who was looking for a way to make inexpensive international calls until her international calling plan went through. I told her about 10-10-987 and she was very happy.

I'm a bit concerned, though, about whether I'll be able to make my bonus payout for this period. I need to take a certain number of calls to get that extra cash, and at the moment I'm about 12 calls below where I need to be. I hope I get a lot of quick calls today so I can get there.

Today's interesting call so far: someone calling from Germany, who wanted the phone number of the CIA. I actually spoke to this person twice, as against all odds they got me both times they called in. I had to tell them that I was customer service, not directory assistance, and they needed to call their local operator to find that out.

The plans to move proceed apace, and it's getting down to the wire. The landlord told me that the apartment should be ready "sometime late this week," and at the moment I've paged him to try to get in touch with him and see if I can get the key tomorrow or Friday morning. I really do need it soon, because I had to schedule electricity and cable/Internet services to be turned on over there on Friday (it was then or Monday, and I would be working Monday), and I need to be physically present, with a computer and a TV set, to get that cable hooked up. And, of course, the parents are coming up again on Sunday to move me over all the way, and it'd be nice if I could get a bunch of boxes moved over there early to lessen the amount of work they'd need to do.

Man, this whole moving thing is a big ol' ball of stress. I'll be glad once I'm moved in all the way so I can relax a little.

In other news, due to some problems with a DNS provider, my primary email address, robotech@eyrie.org, is off-line for a few days. Until then, I'm having to use the email address that has the userID robotech and the domain name terrania.homelinux.org that goes directly to the Linux box in my apartment for those people who really need to contact me. I don't usually use that address, since I'm only in Linux most of the time, so the address could bounce if I happen to be on the Windows side, but in this situation, there's not much else I can do. So if you've written to me lately for some reason and it's bounced, or you haven't heard back from me, try me there instead.
