Death and Texas?
Apr. 16th, 2003 09:59 pmI had one of those surreal experiences today that make me grow a bit more cynical about humanity.
I was talking to a fellow who had three invoices' worth of MCI charges on his account, and he claimed he didn't make some of the phone calls on it. In particular, he was upset at phone calls to Texas. I couldn't find any phone calls to Texas on his account, on any of his six most recent invoices (though I could find some calls to Alamo, GA, that he claimed he didn't make either). Finally, I pinned him down to a particular invoice, and he started reading the charges off...and just as I halfway suspected, they weren't calls to Texas.
They were TAXES.
Uh, yeah.
In other news...I was again reminded today that MCI means "Many Changes Instantly".
At the end of the shift, I learned that starting May 5th, I'm going into training for the "Zorro" and Small Business divisions for a week. My schedule that week will be Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday...12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
That's right; I'm gonna be "working" (well, actually training) until eleven o'clock at night. And I have no idea what my shift's going to look like after that week.
Many changes instantly. Yay. Rah rah.
