In case you've been wondering what I've been doing for the last few days, on Thursday I vegged, played a bunch of Half-Life: Blue Shift (an excellent, if short, adventure through the realms of Half-Life), and watched Spirited Away in the theater for the third, and what I thought might be the last, time. Friday, I went hither and yon to do some shopping, including picking up a dozen boxes of varying sizes for use in packing the room. Saturday, I worked, and on my breaks read the remainder of the e-book of John Ringo's Hell's Faire, whose webscription month completed on that day. An excellent book, but the ending seemed a tad anticlimactic compared to what-all had gone on over the prior three. The new Sluggy Freelance strips in the back of the book were very amusing, though.

Today, I went to church, and the parents came up to attend it with me and help me pack up the room. Something amusing happened during the church service. In this church, they have a singer up to karaoke an inspirational song while the collection plate is being passed around. This week, the song had a powerpoint presentation in the background, and among the images used in that presentation were a couple of stills of Gandalf vs. the Balrog from Fellowship of the Ring, apparently meant to symbolize Jesus's war with the devil. Heh.

After that, we drove to my new apartment so that the parents could look in the windows, then we ate lunch at Long John Silver's, and I put my 15% MCI discount to good use there. We had a family meal that was really intended for four, so I ended up with leftovers that will make good meals for me this coming week. We boxed up most of my books, most of my VHS movies, my various Transformers toys, we took my shelf down and stacked boxes where it had been. Did a bunch of cleaning in the kitchen and the bathroom too. My parents remarked on how bad my place is, and I'll grant that they're probably right. I feel bad about it, and I'm hoping I can keep my next place from becoming that way.

And now I'm rather tired, and facing three more days of work starting tomorrow before I get more time off. But on the bright side...I'll be in some new digs within a couple of weeks. And that's good. After four and a half years living in roachville, I'm ready for a pristine new place.

Omigosh...it would be all I could take not to laugh! I'd enjoy the symbolism after my laugh.
