Well, Thursday afternoon, after getting my first paycheck a little early, I headed over to the nearby Commerce Bank to start a savings account. It was kind of a special event for me, because it was the first savings account I ever had that was strictly my own, not something started for me by my parents. While I was at it, I asked if there was some way I could take out a lower interest loan to cut down my credit card interest payments. It turned out that, while there wasn't strictly a loan per se to do that, if I were approved for a Commerce Bank credit card and transferred my balance onto that, I would have my balance at the prime interest rate, 4.25%, for as long as that balance existed. Plus, the card could link up with my checking account to provide overdraft protection. I decided that was a good idea, and went for it.

Friday was an interesting day...it started with a bit of freak weather, as snow started coming down in half-dollar-sized flakes. It was really something to see, but it only lasted an hour or so and the snow didn't stick. That was also the day we had a pot-luck lunch...with enough food, as it turned out, to feed a small army, even before a couple of the students went and bought KFC. The bread machine bread I brought turned out to be very popular...but I was only able to bring one loaf of it instead of the two I had planned, because the one loaf I'd baked the night before, I had forgotten to put the bread machine's paddle in. Oops. Another small oops was that the security checkpoint confiscated my serrated bread-slicing knife, and only released it briefly for use during lunch. I had to pick it up again on the way out after work was over.

After that, I headed over to see Spirited Away. It was every bit the awesome movie I remember it being, and I plan to see it at least a couple more times before it goes out of the theaters. Rather than duplicate effort redescribing it here, here are my report of the experience and my updated ePinions review of the film.

More stuff later.
