Went by the movie theater after work and picked up my movie ticket for Spirited Away—I want to be absolutely sure nothing goes wrong with my chances to see this movie. Curious as to whether there was going to be any publicity for it, I asked one of the employees inside if there were any movie posters up for it anywhere. The employee was under the impression that they weren't going to be getting that movie—so I wordlessly extracted the ticket I had just bought from my wallet and showed it to her. I would kind of like to think that if I worked at a movie theater, I would at least keep current on the movie titles they have listed as "Coming Soon" on their big placard out front.
Didn't sleep too well last night; I need to go by a store and pick up more valerian as I'm currently out. Actually, I need to get more St. John's Wort, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B while I'm at it. Good thing I'm getting paid soon.
In a comment to a recent entry, a friend of mine complained about all my posts in which I "chatter about my job and the minutia of [my] life." He suggested I should be using LJ-cut...which struck me as rather odd, given that the post to which he commented such was only two paragraphs long.
Looking at his own LJ page, I see he seems to use it largely to post links he thinks are cool, and the occasional quiz, with a bit of personal stuff here and there. And that's fine; folks can use their LJ for whatever they want. But I happen to be in the habit of using my LiveJournal as just that—a journal, where I can talk all about what goes on in my life. It helps me to keep it straight, and it serves to tell my friends who care enough about me to read it what's going on with me, so I don't have to repeat the same good news, bad news, or just plain news in multiple different venues, and so that someday, years hence, I can look back on the days of my life and remember it more clearly. I realize that it may not be of interest to everybody else—or sometimes anybody else. But it's of interest to me, and to at least some of my friends. And, likewise, nobody's forcing anyone to read it.
And as for LJ-cuts? Well, if I write an exceedingly long entry—longer than, say, this one—then I'll stick a LJ-cut in so I don't clobber people's friends pages. But honestly, I have people on my own friends pages who don't cut longer posts than this (not to mention pages full of personality quizzes that I just skip over anyway), and I don't see any reason why I should start.
