So...last year, after several years of gloomy forecasts about the state of broadband adoption, the number of households with broadband suddenly jumped by 59%, from 10 million to 16 million. What do you want to bet that most of those new adopters don't just want their webpages to load faster?

I think that peer to peer is the single prime factor driving the adoption of broadband. I strongly suspect there's going to be a major clash between consumers and publishing interests within the next couple of years over this. When you have a recidivistic behavior engaged in not by a handful of people but by tens of millions of people, you've got a trainwreck in the making.
