Certainties
Aug. 2nd, 2002 02:18 pmWell, AmeriCorps emailed me back this morning to say
I've got the shot. I fly to D.C. for training on the 18th, and move out on the 26th. Which means pretty soon I'd probably better start thinking about how I'm going to go about it.
However, I've also agreed to apply to that job that my brother thinks I have a shot at getting intoand it starts at about the same time. So there's a bit more stress in my life as I wonder whether I will get this job, and whether there's a way to withdraw gracefully from AmeriCorps after taking the training if I actually do. I am hardly sanguine that I will get the jobfrankly, I think there's hardly a snowball's chance in hell, though I will try my best. I just don't want to let go of this New Hampshire opportunity if I don't get it, because one way or another, I need out of here, now.
Anyway, my brother wants me to write a cover letter, and get some letters of recommendation. I was just about to head in to the college campus to consult with their career services departmentI seem to recall they had a program where I could get some people to write letters of recommendation for me that would then stay on file and could be copied to various jobs for which I appliedwhen suddenly thunder sounded, the heavens cracked open, and rain started pouring down. What a day.
