Attack of the Filename Spoofers
May. 18th, 2002 10:54 pmWell, you might as well not even bother trying to download Star Wars Episode 2 from Kazaa yet. There are about a zillion places offering files that claim to be Attack of the Clones...but aren't. I've downloaded trailers for the new Jennifer Lopez movie. I've downloaded the last half of Romeo Must Die. I've even downloaded the infamously bad Star Wars Holiday Special. All of them claimed to be Attack of the Clones. Go figure.
I'm not even sure why folks would be doing this to begin with, let alone propagating the file after they've downloaded it. I wonder if they think it's some kind of great joke? It's not like they're getting anything out of it...just making the very network they're using a bit more useless. I wouldn't have thought they'd want to do that.
I'd wanted to be able to watch certain scenes over again in the comfort of my home. Oh well...guess I'll just have to go see it in the theater again instead.
