Well, I donated plasma again today. Drank about two quarts of fluids beforehand. The donation went pretty quickly, and without any draw problems--and that was a good thing. Those two quarts wanted out!

Came home, grabbed the next Honor Harrington book for a quick readthrough. A friend, [livejournal.com profile] mechaman, along with the Baen Free Library, got me into them, and now I'm about a third of the way through In Enemy Hands. Pretty good books, though I'm already anticipating the "post-series letdown" which often strikes when I find a series of good books, rip through them, and then am left without knowing what happened next.

Toward the late evening, I was struck by a sudden chocolate craving. The Dairy Queen "frozen hot chocolate" flavor Glacier Smoothy I'd had that afternoon apparently wasn't enough to satisfy--for I had to sally forth upon an expedition to the nearby Dillons, and then to the Albertson's down the road, in search of my nourishment. In the end, I came back with a few of the new Hershey's bottled milkshakes, plus some chocolate Sport Shakes from Albertson's, since Dillon's didn't carry them.

Along the way, I got the chance to employ one of my favorite Stupid Cellphone Tricks. When I couldn't find anyone around to help me, rather than run all over the store, I used the built-in phone directory on my cellphone to look up the number of the store, then called it and asked them to send someone back to help me. "Could you send someone to the dairy case, please?" "Who is this?" the confused store person asked. "One of your customers, on his cellphone," I said. Heh. Of course, sometimes it doesn't work--some buildings seem to block the SMS transmission capacity of the phone, or else some days the web directory is just down--but when it does, it's fun to play with the employees' minds.

Tomorrow, I have another day of work, then on Saturday, it's that crawdad boil I mentioned the other day. I'm hoping that I can get [livejournal.com profile] blacknumber01 to come down with me, but I haven't been able to contact him by phone or email. He's like that, sometimes--it's part of the reason I got him that cellphone, but unfortunately he's let his minutes lapse and hasn't been able to buy more. Grr. He'd said he was going to be selling plasma, too; you'd think that out of $50 a week he could afford to spend $18 on a 30-minute phone card. I wish he'd let me know one way or the other; this uncertainty is really bugging me.

Onward and upward...or perhaps downward. Bed calls; I answer.
